Distributed Media

Multi-Room Audio Systems, Installed Across Gauteng

One system, every room, effortless control — designed, installed and calibrated by ANR Media.

ANR Media designs and installs multi-room audio systems for homes across Gauteng, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midvaal and the Vaal Triangle. A distributed audio system sends music from a central source to speakers in every room, so you can play one track through the whole house or a different one in each zone — controlled from your phone or a wall panel.

We handle the full installation — system design, speaker selection, cabling, amplification and calibration. Whether you are building, renovating or retrofitting a finished home, we specify equipment that suits the room and the way you actually listen.

Multi-Room Audio Options We Install

In-ceiling speakers installed for multi-room audio in a Gauteng home

In-Ceiling & In-Wall Speakers

Discreet ceiling and in-wall speakers disappear into the room and give even coverage without floor-standing boxes. Ideal for open-plan living areas, kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms where you want the sound but not the hardware.

Multi-Zone Amplifiers & AV Receivers

A multi-zone amplifier or AV receiver drives several rooms from a single rack. Run 5.1 surround in the lounge and an independent stereo zone elsewhere, each with its own source and volume control.

Weatherproof outdoor speakers on a patio entertainment area

Outdoor & Patio Audio

Weatherproof speakers extend the system to patios, braai areas and pool decks — built to handle moisture, UV and Highveld temperature swings without losing clarity or output.

Reference Sound

Every room, one seamless soundtrack

We build your system around components worth listening to — Klipsch stereo pairs for clarity and dynamic range, Arylic streaming amplifiers feeding every zone. Matched, calibrated and installed by ANR Media, then controlled from the palm of your hand.

How a Multi-Room Audio System Works

A multi-room system has four parts. Understanding them makes it far easier to decide what you actually need.

  1. A central source. A streaming amplifier, AV receiver or music server holds your music and feeds every zone in the house.
  2. Distribution. Speaker cabling, or a wireless link, carries audio from that source to each room.
  3. Speakers matched to the room. A small bathroom and an open-plan lounge need very different output, so each zone is specified separately.
  4. Control. An app or wall panel lets you pick a source, set volume, and group rooms together or run them independently.

What an Installation Involves

  • A site visit to walk the house, discuss how you listen, and agree the zones.
  • System design and equipment specification — speakers, amplification and control.
  • First-fix cabling during a build or renovation, or retrofit routing in a finished home.
  • Mounting, terminating and testing every zone.
  • Calibration, app setup and a handover so you know how to drive it.

Brands We Install

We specify equipment from established audio brands, including M&K Sound, Klipsch, Arylic, Sonos, Sonance, Onkyo, Integra, NAD and Bluesound. What we recommend depends on the room, the budget and how the system will be used — we are not tied to selling one badge.

Multi-Room Audio: Common Questions

What is multi-room audio?

Multi-room audio, also called distributed audio, sends music from one central source to speakers in several rooms. You can play the same track through the whole house or run each room as its own zone with a different source and volume, controlled from an app or a wall panel.

Can multi-room audio be installed in an existing home?

Yes. In a finished home we either route cabling through ceilings, roof spaces and cavities where access allows, or use wireless streaming amplifiers so each zone connects over your Wi-Fi network. A site visit determines which approach suits the building.

What does a multi-room audio system cost in South Africa?

Cost is driven by the number of zones, the speakers chosen, the amplification required, and whether cabling can be run easily or needs retrofit routing. A two-zone system with in-ceiling speakers sits at the entry end; a whole-home system with outdoor zones and reference speakers costs considerably more. We quote per home after a site visit.

What is the difference between multi-room audio and surround sound?

Surround sound puts multiple speakers in one room to create a cinema effect for film and TV. Multi-room audio spreads music across many rooms, with each room typically running in stereo. Many homes have both: a surround system in the lounge or cinema room, and distributed audio everywhere else.

Can I control the system from my phone?

Yes. Every system we install includes app control, so you can choose a source, adjust volume, group rooms together or separate them from your phone or tablet. Wall panels can be added in rooms where a fixed control makes more sense, such as a kitchen or patio.
